Spring is finally here! With the start of spring you have the beautiful weather, flowers beginning to grow, and one thing that I enjoy A LOT begins: baseball.
I have started coaching my oldest daughter in baseball. Coaching five and six year olds is challenging, especially when many of them have never even thrown or hit a baseball. We have been working with our daughter, Marley, on her focus during practice. Baseball can be very hard to focus on because it can go by at an incredibly slow pace. In five year old terms that means spinning around, doing dance moves, and even picking flowers. During and after practice I left with the feeling that practice hadn’t went well and I was kind of frustrated with Marley’s behavior. On the way home we were listening to the new passion “White Flag” album. As we continued on the way home Marley started to sing louder and louder. I have heard her sing many times before in the car but this time was different. It was like God was saying to me rather loudly that this is what matters. The one thing that really matters is her singing and worshiping Christ. It is easy for me at times to become focused on things that truly don’t matter.
Are there things that have your focus or attention that really don’t matter?
What can you do to shift your focus today to the One that does matter, Christ?
My hope and prayer for Brevard Community is that we all would be focused on this truth. Christ and Christ alone is the one thing that matters.
Take a moment and read this passage and watch this video and meditate on the truths found in them.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8
“Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails...”
